blog: You'll Never Be Quite the Same

What makes you feel good?

Breakfast in bed presented by smiling children is a perfect example - other people’s ideas of how to make you feel good on your birthday are not always on target (crumbs on sheets, toxic morning mouth…but the smiling children are a winner). Years ago I learned to go to the source.
Robin – what makes you feel good? That’s what you should do on your birthday (or as many as you can arrange…)
  • Don’t rush. Whatever it is, start early so you can take your time.
  • Climb a mountain.
  • Go for a walk before breakfast. And maybe again in the angled evening light.
  • Pick blackberries straight into your cereal bowl.
  • Swim a mile.
  • Hug dogs.
  • Hug people.
  • Talk to your children.
  • Check things off the to-do list.
  • Make the bed (so you get the lift of that made-bed room tonight).
  • Make your favorite birthday cake. Or an ice-cream sundae. With peanut butter sauce. And whipped cream.
  • Eat well, not too much.
  • Laugh.
  • Sing.
  • Sleep well.

Here is where I began. I wonder what made me feel good that day? Clearly something awesome.

Good start! If you climbed a mountain, swam a mile, and took two walks yesterday, you deserved birthday cake AND a peanut butter sundae;-) Love you!!

I made almost all of them - but did not climb a mountain!

Looks like Fiona — with a bit more plump!
